Andaman

Yesterday completed reading Alemariya Andaman by Poornachandra Tejaswi. A wonderful book which explains his trip to andaman. The approach is very different and lively. I was eagerly awaiting to see andaman mud crab in the andaman trip. This crab can easily pluck the coconut from the tree, peel off the husk and break open its shell.
Few days back we decided to execute andman plan in feb. we had this pending from a long time. Today me and lohit had gone to a travels to enquire about it.

Today late evening i got two messages on my mobile in quick succession by [info]deepak - "Lo! Glad we were not in andaman today!", [info]inthing - "Maga, gud that we didn't goto andaman ..."
If [info]joshmachine hadn't gone to US last month, we would most probably be in the trip today ? our earlier plan was to do it at the time of christmas since it would be easy get holidays.

I never imagined/knew that a tsunami can create such a havoc. Walls of water up to 20 feet coming at you when your happily playing around in the beach, you and everything around you will be swept away in seconds.

I am wondering if we keep spoiling nature will we have a "big tsunami" several thousands feet high which will wash away all the continents taking away everything on surface to deep ocean ?
Is Mr Bush going to attack sumatra saying it has WMD ?

Re: Coconut crab

In the book tejaswi does say about a person selling this crab who has lost his finger because of the crab.
I think criminals/fighters in jail @ andaman never tried to runaway :-)

I couldn't believe that a crab can pluck coconuts. But after seeing this I should say that the coconut crab is a real big one and terrific. Apparently it can lift a 28kg rock with its claws.

His face has the shape of a coconut too, and maybe crabs just recognise shapes ... ;-)
